Captain Dick Flint & the Orb of Ara Kem.
Directed by Shawn Clay. August 19–22, 2027 on the mainstage. Four performances. One weekend.
A one-weekend send-off.
The 2026-27 season closes with a single-weekend run, directed by Shawn Clay.
Captain Dick Flint and the Orb of Ara-Kern is a campy sci-fi comedy that plays like a mash-up of Star Trek–style space adventure and the absurd humor of The Naked Gun. Retired space hero Dick Flint now runs a small starship repair shop until an injured alien pilot crash-lands in his hangar carrying the mysterious Orb of Ara-Kern, a legendary artifact with immense power. As Flint helps repair the ship, he learns the pilot will face a brutal punishment for failing his mission, while an Evilian ambassador arrives demanding the ship, the pilot, and the Orb. Refusing to let the young pilot be sacrificed, Flint hatches a reckless plan to outwit the ambassador and give the pilot a chance to complete his mission, leading to a mix of over-the-top space drama, parody, and rapid-fire jokes.
